Read about the history of NZ and answer the following questions & share

New Zealand's population is a little over 4.5 million. Do you think we should encourage more people to come and live here? Justify your opinion. 5.What are 10 problems new migrants might face in settling into life in New Zealand? LOI 3: Our personal histories (Perspective)
Students will be exposed to ‘migration stories’ of the Kowhai teachers. Student will then identify an example of migration in their family history (if possible) and craft interview questions to explore the purpose, reasons, opportunities, challenges experienced due to the migration with that person. If unable to find a family member, students are encouraged to interview a member of the community or someone they know. Students will present their information either as a factual recount. |
LOI 2: Migration throughout history (Change)
Students will watch a video visually showing the major migration over time. They will then explore 4 different types of migration: slave trade as migration, the Nordic (Viking) migration, the Australian convict migration, followed by urban migration (focus is on the changes that occur as a result of urban migration). The final task is students rewatching the migration over time video and creating a timeline of major migration through history. |
